Welcome! My name is Mia Sultanik (sole TAN ik). As an LMSW, I am pleased to provide counseling services from our Hope for the Journey office in Round Rock, Texas.
Having spent my childhood in Houston, Texas, I first arrived in Austin, Texas over 30 years ago to attend The University of Texas, at Austin. I earned my BS in Child Development and Family Relationships from the Department of Natural Sciences. Shortly thereafter, I obtained my teaching certification and worked in Round Rock ISD for 10 years. I decided to followed my passion to support and counsel others and left my position, returning to The University of Texas, at Austin, in order to earn my LMSW from the School of Social Work. Upon completion of this master's degree, I worked in various aspects of counseling including with children and adults in acute care and in-patient hospitals in the Austin area and in court appointed guardianship investigations through Travis County.
From January 2007 through August 2017, I worked as a regular part-time counselor/therapist and PRN counselor as an individual and family therapist at an inpatient facility for children and adolescents while also working in Leander ISD as a classroom and gifted and talented teacher. My unique and extensive experiences with children, adolescents, adults and families have led me to have a well-rounded and all-encompassing background in order to provide clients the best possible counseling services.
I thoroughly enjoy staying up to date with current therapy and relevant therapeutic issues. When not working with clients, you can find me poking around outdoors and in nature (when it's not sweltering outside!), creating just about anything, reading, baking and spending time with my family. And, yes, I am the proud and parent of three, one of whom has diagnoses of ASD and Retractible Epilepsy.
